Dandathirtha: Car kills pedestrian

Kaup: A car hit a woman who was crossing NH 66 after casting her vote near Dandathirtha on Saturday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Achhu Poojarthi (65), originally a resident of Uliyaragoli in Kaup and currently residing at Bailuru in Karkala.
The deceased had come to Kaup to cast her vote and was on her way back home when a car plying from Udupi towards Mangaluru hit her while she was crossing the road.
The force of the impact was such that the victim was thrown to the road and sustained grievous injuries. Though she was swiftly shifted to the hospital on Hoysala, she succumb to her injuries en-route.
Kaup police have registered a case.
