Dandeli: Police on Saturday arrested a woman for giving a contract to kill her husband.

Gaothan village resident Tejaswini Sutar was angered by her husband Ankush Rama Sutar constantly scolding her for using her mobile phone excessively and for being infertile. She called her friend Vanita Chauhan and told her about her decision to kill her husband.

Tejaswini was told that she would have to pay Rs 30,000 for the murder. She agreed.

Shantaram Patil, a resident of Nandagad taluk in Belagavi district, and a young boy came to Dandeli around 11 pm on Friday and along with Tejaswini attempted to garrote Ankush.

Ankush cried for help and when his brothers came running on hearing his cries, the trio escaped.

Police officials later arrested Tejaswini and Shantaram from Barchi Road in Dandeli.

Vanitha Chauhan and the young boy are still absconding.
