Kasaragod: Chandragiri Bridge is the longest bridge in the district whose parapet has suffered damage. However, instead of repairing it, the PWD officials have only installed metal sheets and left. But now, due to the rain and wind, the installed sheets have dropped off and giving an open invitation to danger.
Since, metal sheets have been installed on the other side of bridge as well; they are on the verge of collapsing too. Because of this, the locals are terrified of any mishap that might happen in the future.
The road has been developed by the Kerala State Coastal Area Development Corporation (KSCADC). Since there is heavy traffic across this road and because of multiple collisions of vehicles with the parapet, it has suffered damage.
Even though there are so many problems, the officials have failed to take any measures to rebuild the missing parapet. The locals have condemned the action of the installation of metal sheets as parapet.
