Bengaluru: Actor Darshan has approached the Karnataka High Court seeking the revocation of the order issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, canceling his gun license. The court will soon hear the petition.
Darshan’s petition challenges the order, which was issued on January 20, after concerns arose in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case. Authorities feared that Darshan might use his pistol to destroy evidence, as he was one of the accused in the case. Consequently, the Deputy Commissioner of Police revoked his gun license.
Darshan had initially acquired the gun license for personal security and had followed the required legal procedures to obtain it. A show-cause notice was issued on January 7, seeking an explanation for the continued possession of the firearm.
In his response, Darshan assured that he would not misuse the weapon. Despite this, on January 20, the authorities decided to revoke the license, and the police confiscated the weapon on January 21. In his petition, Darshan has claimed that the revocation was done with the intention of harassing him.
