Dasara preparations begin at state’s cultural capital

Mysuru: As the dasara celebrations are round the corner, jumbo savari rehearsal has begun in full swing.
On Wednesday Arjuna, the lead Dasara elephant, successfully carried the wooden howdah, which is almost the weight of golden howdah, on the procession route.
Arjuna had to practice for several rounds carrying the golden howdah he was seen smoothly carrying the wooden howdah along with sandbags from the palace till Bannimantap grounds.
Arjuna was accompanied by elephants Chaitra, Kaveri and Vijaya, besides other elephants that are part of Jamboo Savari team.
The wooden howdah, which weighs around 300 kg, was tied on Ajruna’s back using a crane on the palace premises.
