Chikkamagaluru: Karnataka’s Minister of Kannada and Culture V Sunil Kumar on Monday said that the Datta Peetha and Baba Budan Dargah are different entities and Muslims should open their eyes to this fact.
Speaking to the press during his visit to the Datta Peetha, the Karnataka Cabinet Minister said, it is evident from various historical records that Datta Peetha and Nagnahalli Baba Budan are different. Let the Muslim community develop the Nagenahalli Dargah and shift the dargahs that have been constructed at Datta Peetha to Nagenahalli. On the basis of the honorable High court’s order, he suggested allowing Hindus to worship the deity at the Datta Peetha.
The Siddaramaiah-led Congress government had previously taken a decision against the Hindus’ aspirations. Hindus were not allowed to worship despite the supreme court order. The committee later constituted to look into the matter, had allowed worship only by the Mujawar. The high court canceled the appointment of Mujawar ordered by the previous government and has now given the opportunity for conducting rituals by Hindus at the Peetha, he said.
Admitting that his rise in politics and public life was due to the struggle in the Datta Peetha controversy, he expressed his happiness at the High Court’s verdict. He also mentioned that he had prayed to do more work for the cause of Hindutva.
