Davangere: Two women who were diagnosed with COVID-19 escaped from a COVID Care Centre here.

The incident occurred at the Centre located at the JH Patil Layout in the town.

The 21 and 19-year-old women were residing at a government girl’s hostel.

One of the women had been in an interfaith marriage four years ago. However, as she was a minor then, the man she married was sent to prison. She was sent to the girl’s hostel after she refused to go back to her family.

Similarly, the other woman had attempted to marry one of her relatives while a minor. The marriage was stopped and she too was sent to the hostel after refusing to go back to her home.

Both the woman were admitted to the COVID Care Centre as they were asymptomatic.

On Monday night, they both escaped when the watchman of the Centre had gone for dinner.

It is being suspected that they must have run away to the men they wanted to marry.

A case was registered at the Vidyanagar police station.
