Daya Nayak promoted and posted to ATS Mumbai

Karkala: Encounter specialist Daya Nayak from Yennehole in the taluk has been promoted and posted to Mumbai unit of Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) Maharashtra. Mr Nayak is renowned throughout the country for having successfully decimating the underworld gangs in Mumbai.

Through this new posting, Mr Nayak as emerged as the only senior Tulu-Kannadiga police officer to have been posted to ATS Mumbai unit.

Mr Nayak joined the police force in the 90s when the underworld was playing havoc in Mumbai and succeeded in bringing the situation under control by fearlessly taking the underworld head-on and establishing law and order. Having eliminated over 80 underworld elements, Mr Nayak gained the reputation as an encounter specialist. Besides, he cracked some of the most complicated cases and crushed the drug cartel in Mumbai.

In 2004, Daya Nayak won the Karnataka Rajyostava award. He had also built a school at his native place, Yennehole, and handed over the building to the government. Some Bollywood movies were also produced based on his achievements and daredevilry.

Expressing happiness at the fact that his honesty, sincerity, hard work, duty consciousness, and friendliness have helped him achieve this distinction, Mr Nayak said he will continue to fight against crime and criminals in Mumbai.
