A message was sent on social media by Tulu organizations urging Tuluvas living across the globe to take part in the ‘Tweet Tulunad’ campaign with the hashtag TuluOfficialInKA_KL on Sunday, June 13. A good response was observed for this request.
The purpose of #TuluOfficialInKA_KL campaign held on Sunday is to urge the state and neighboring Kerala governments to recognize Tulu as an official language and then include the language in the eighth schedule of the Constitution.
Take a look at few tweets:

The people of #Tulunadu, have been requesting to make #Tulu as the state official language. We don’t know what is stopping the Govt in fulfilling. Do you want us to protest like Telangana? #TuluOfficialinKA_KL @CMofKarnataka @narendramodi @PMOIndia @united_tulunadu pic.twitter.com/AujI5FKiRR

Tulu Language is our asset, a deep integral part of our culture and heritage. It is very much important that government recognise this and add it to the 8th Schedule of the Constitution of India.#Tulu #TuluOfficialinKA_KL #TuluTo8thSchedule #tulutweetarmy #tulunadu pic.twitter.com/S7IvIndSwx

What is stopping Karnataka government to give official status to Tulu is still a mystery. Parties changes govt changes but no one takes any step towards this. It’s really strange #TuluOfficialinKA_KL

Ironically, the campaign has been launched just a few days after actress Adhvithi Shetty called out a social media user for his post disrespecting the Tulu Nadu flag.
The abuser (unnamed) had shared a picture of a pair of sandals that had the flag of the Tulu region printed on them along with a comment that meant serious disrespect to the people and the region.
So, when Adhvithi Shetty, a native Tulu speaker, learned about the misdemeanor, she did not hold back from condemning the serious disrespect towards her land and shared a post on social media with critical comments.
“This is not acceptable. My mother tongue is Tulu. Am a proud Tuluva and to see this hurts. Got to know about this today and it’s so sad to see. No one can speak ill about any language. There is so much happening around us y do we need to spread or talk hatred about things like these ???? As much as I love Kannada I love Tulu too. Am a proud Bunt, I hope this culprit is caught very soon,” wrote Adhvithi Shetty in an attempt to call out the culprit and seek suitable punishment.
