DC, Nalin Kumar Kateel urge CM to grant permission to impose lockdown in DK

Mangaluru: MP Nalin Kumar Kateel on Monday requested Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa to grant permission to impose complete lockdown in the district, amid a spike in Covid-19 cases.

Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh, Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, and other officials attended a conference with the B S Yediyurappa today and updated the CM about the COVID-situation in the state.

In the meeting, Yediyurappa has directed the deputy commissioner to take a decision with this regard. However, the CM asserted that he is personally opposed to the idea of lockdown.

As per sources, deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh will take a decision on lockdown after holding a meeting with the concerned officials.
