DC provides compensation to victim’s families

Mangaluru/Udupi: Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil on Wednesday distributed a compensation of Rs.5 Lakh each to the families of flood victims.
The families of Mohini of Udayanagar near KPT and Mukta near PVS Kalakunja at Kodialbail received the compensation cheques from the DC.
Sixty year old Mohini was buried alive as soil caved in at the backyard of her house at Udayanagar while 80 year old Mukta Bai of Kodailbail who was ailing and bed-ridden was drowned as she tried to get out of her cot on seeing water entering her house.
In Padubudri, Udupi Deputy commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis visited the family of nine-year-old Nidhi Acharya who got washed away in the flash floods and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lac for the bereaved family.
