DC raids illegal sand mining units in Dakshina Kannada

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada DC Sasikanth Senthil, raided various places in the district and seized around 800 trucks of sand and dredging machines.
DC formed a squad to raid at different locations including Moodushedde, Padushedde, Manjalpade and Jappinamogaru.
The team was comprised of tahasildar, Guruprasad, assistant commissioner, Renuka Prasad, senior geologists, Niranjan and Murthy, officials of National Highways Authority of India, Mescom officials and police personnel from Kavoor and Pandeshwar police stations.
The squad visited five sand extraction units near Maravoor dam and sealed them.
Cases were registered against six persons. 40 boats and several trucks were seized.
