Dead lizard found in midday meals served at govt school, 40 students hospitalised

Koppal: Nearly 40 students studying in classes 1-8 of a government school in Koppal district took ill after consuming the midday meals here on Thursday afternoon

Shortly after consuming the meals, several students of the Bevoor Primary and Middle school started vomiting and were immediately rushed to the community health centre for preliminary treatment. Later they were transferred to the Koppal District Hospital.

District Surgeon Dr Daanareddy informed media persons that the students were out of danger and were responding well to treatment. He also mentioned that the food was prepared at the school itself and the preparation of the mid-day meal was not “contracted to anyone”.

Meanwhile few media reports reported that a dead lizard had been found in the midday meals prepared at the school.

No complaint has been filed with the police so far.
