Dealing with Covid-19 crisis was a life changing experience: Sindhu Rupesh

Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh was transferred and replaced by Rajendra KV who was the Belagavi ZP CEO, on Tuesday, July 28

She  has been transferred to the position of Director, Electronic Delivery of Citizen Services (EDCS), DP&AR (E-Governance)

She has done some tremendous work in handling Covid-19 crisis in the district. She implemented strict lockdown and quarantine rules in the district which controlled the spread of the virus in the initial days.

Speaking to Udayavani, Sindhu Rupesh discloses her experience of working in Mangaluru

How was your experience working as the Deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada?

It was challenging to work as the DC amid Covid-19 crisis. It was new for all of us and we worked as a team to face the pandemic. Overall, It was a great experience.

How was the response of people?

The response was good. People followed all the rules and regulations implemented by the district adminstration. I am very happy about it

Were you pressurized by any representative or politicians?

No, there was no pressure from anyone. All have cooperated well for the smooth functioning of the administration.

Any unforgettable instances during your tenure?

Covid-19 pandemic! I dealt with Corona pandemic during my tenure which is an unforgettable experience. I faced several challenges such as movement of migrant workers, lockdown, bringing back stranded Indians etc. These are all life changing experiences for me.

How did district administration function to contain the spread of Covid-19? 

District administration worked in partnership with all the departments, which made it a lot easier to contain the virus. We worked together from the initial days to contain the spread of Covid-19 in the district.
