Mysuru: A carcass of a female tiger was found in Ayurhosahlly Haadi in the Anechowkur range of the tiger reserve of Nagarahole National Park on Tuesday.

According to Nagarahole Park director V. Manikantan, the tiger was dead at least three days ago and had porcupine quills sticking out near the chest which may be the reason for the death. he also added that the nails of the tigress were intact and the presence of the porcupine quills reveals that the tigress may have got into a fight with the porcupine.

With the death of this tiger, the number has gone up to two in Nagarahole so far in the last 15 days. In the mean time, the authorities are focusing on unravelling the mystery surrounding the death of two tigers in Bandipur as they are suspected to have been poisoned. The laboratory reports are awaited.
