Death of woman constable: Kaup police arrest husband for abetting suicide

Kaup: Kaup police have arrested the husband of the deceased woman police constable for abetting her suicide.
The victim, Jyoti (32) attached to the Kaup Police station had died allegedly by suicide on the night of March 29. Her husband, Ravikumar (35) now faces charges of abetment to suicide, police said.
Ravikumar, a resident of Ilakal taluk of Bagalkot District, had married Jyoti in 2017. He was employed as a mechanic in the KSRTC, police said.
The couple lived in the police quarters near the police station. It is said that, on March 29, the couple reportedly fought over an issue and Jyoti allegedly ended her life over the same issue.
According to sources, a diary found in Jyoti’s room mentioned her husband’s suspicions as the cause for her extreme step. Police have reportedly found many other details mentioned in the diary, however, police are yet to reveal them.
On a complaint by the mother of the deceased, a case has been registered at the Kaup Police Station.
