Decennial celebrations of Asare on June 15

Manipal: Asare, a home for special children with school, rehabilitation centre, autism and learning disorder division will celebrate its 10th Anniversary on June 15, 2019 at the Dr TMA Pai Auditorium in KMC here. The Decennial Celebrations will be inaugurated by Ms Shobha Karandlaje, MP, at 10 am. MAHE Pro Chancellor, Dr H.S. Ballal will preside over the function.
Asare is a joint project of Manipal Academy of Higher Education and Archana Trust. The celebrations will be held in two parts. The morning function will be followed by prize distribution at which Dr Vasanti R Pai, Trustee MAHE Trust will be the chief guest and MAHE Vice Chancellor, Dr H. Vinod Bhat will preside over the function and Mrs Indira Ballal, wife of Dr H.S. Ballal will be the guest of honour.
Asare with 40 inmates and 10 day scholars is doing a fine job for these special children. It provides vocational training in basic computer operation, tailoring, making plates with paper and areca nut leaf sheaths and in craft the inmates are taught to make crepe paper flowers, greeting cards, paper bags and envelops. One of the inmates, Archana is an international swimmer who recently won a bronze medal at the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Abu Dhabi.
