Decision on morning Azaan after meeting with Ulemas: Waqf Board Chairman

Udupi: Karnataka Waqf Board chairman N K Mohammed Shafi said that the Waqf board has not taken any decision about stopping the morning Azaan yet. As the issue pertains to Shariyat, it will be discussed with the Ulemas (Muslim Scholars) of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi on Monday and Tuesday, and a decision will be reached soon, he added.
Speaking at a press conference here, Shafi said that the Waqf Board has already issued a circular to all mosques under its purview about the noise levels. “It is everyone’s duty to comply with the court order,” he added..
Shafi also for strict action against the communally divisive forces. National Anthem is being sung at the Madrasas in the state for a long time. “There are 1990 madrasas under the Waqf board. Indian national anthem is sung at each one of them. Some individuals are raking up the issue unnecessarily,” he added.
A training center for civil service aspirants will come up in Bengaluru at an estimated cost of Rs 15 crores. The foundation stone for the same will be laid in June, he announced.
