Bengaluru: Primary and secondary education minister S Suresh Kumar said that the decision on restarting schools will be taken after a meeting with the chief minister.

Speaking at a meeting of delegates representing managements of unaided pre-university colleges, he said the decision on the commencement of SSLC and second PUC classes will be taken after discussing with the Health Department’s expert committee.

“Many MLCs from the Graduates and Teachers constituencies have expressed that staying away from schools will badly affect the social skills of children. Hence a thorough discussion will be conducted to restart classes with adequate safety measures. The government will not, under any circumstances, compromise on the safety and future of students,” Kumar said.

“The government is concerned about the SSLC and PUC students who have to take national level competitive exams for their career. All these will be taken into consideration before coming to a decision,” the minister added.

Deputy Chief Minister and Higher Education Minister CN Ashwath Narayan said that no State in the country has fully restarted schools. Considering the future of students we have only restarted university classes.
