Deepika, Ranveer to bid for IPL franchise: Reports

Bollywood couple Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh have reportedly expressed interest in purchasing an IPL team ahead of the 2022 season.

According to an Outlook report, Deepika and Ranveer are likely to bid for an IPL franchise.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) which has invited bids for two new franchises had recently extended the deadline of the Invitation to Tender (ITT) to October 20.

Reports have also indicated that popular football club Manchester United’s owners – the Glazer family have shown interest in buying a franchise in the 2022 edition of the league.

The IPL bid document costs Rs 10 lakh and consortiums and companies with annual turnover of Rs 3000 crore will be allowed to bid for teams.

The BCCI is expecting anything between Rs 7,000-10,000 crore from the team bidding process slated to take place on October 25.

The base price for new IPL teams is pegged at Rs 2,000 crore.
