Mangaluru: “As the BJP was successful to attract the votes, not only in our district but throughout the country, on the lines of religious polarisation instead of development, Congress got defeated in the Lok Sabha elections. Though the results of the elections have not brought happiness to us, we bow to the verdict of the people,” said MLC Ivan D’Souza speaking at the press conference that was held at the Congress office in the city on Saturday, May 25.
“Though the Congress tried its best to win the elections, it did not succeed. People of the country have been made to believe that the achievements of the defence forces are the achievements of BJP. This kind of politics was not done by any party in the past 70 years of history of the country. The statements that were to be given by the chiefs of the defence forces are given by Prime Minister Modi and ministers of his cabinet and thereby people of the country are emotionally blackmailed. Development of the country is not given importance and only the security and defence of the nation is given more propaganda during the election campaign by the BJP,” pointer Mr D’Souza.
Coalition government will complete full term
“The result of Lok Sabha elections will not have any effect on the state. The coalition government in the state is safe. BJP is trying various tricks to bring down the coalition government from the day it was formed. But all the MLAs of Congress and JD (S) are united. The government is going to complete five year term,” Ivan added.
