Mangalore: The Association of Street Traders staged a protest at the Mangaluru City Corporation on Thursday, demanding the issuance of identity cards and certificates for street traders.

Hundreds of street vendors, gathered and besieged the office of the Corporation Commissioner, pressing for the issuance of these essential documents.

The street vendors expressed their frustration as the identity cards and certificates, which have already been printed, remain unavailable to them.

MCC Commissioner Anand CL addressed the protesters and assured them that the identity cards would be distributed by the end of October.

In response to the delay, activist BK Imtiaz issued a warning, stating that if the ID cards are not distributed as promised, they would protest by displaying black flags during the Kannada Rajyotsava program scheduled for November 1.
