Mangaluru: Condemning the delay in declaring the results of degree examinations over 500 ABVP members gheraoed the administrative offices of Mangalore University on Tuesday, December 20.

The protesting ABVP members also tried to barge into the syndicate meeting that was being held at the administrative office, however, police foiled their attempt.

Speaking at the protest, Harshith Koyla, convener of the Mangaluru division of ABVP, said that the degree and postgraduate course students of Mangalore University are being tortured by the management by not declaring marks cards on time.

“Evaluation of answer papers of examination is also not done on time, as a result, the students are finding it difficult and are unable to apply for the scholarship. In addition, the university is toying with the students who joined the first year after the NEP was implemented by not publishing the results of the first and second year examinations, though all the students are studying in the second year now,” he added.

He further alleged that the vice-chancellor and registrar of evaluation of the university are responsible for all these issues.

Reacting to the protestors’ statement, Registrar of evaluation Prof P L Dharma got emotional, and said, “Students asking for my resignation for the delay in the declaration of results. I am ready to quit if my resignation resolves the issue.”

“Our staff have not even taken one day of casual leave and are working continuously. We are facing issues because of UCMS. The server is not working properly. I am not speaking against the government but the system. The university has always helped the students,” he said.

He finally assured the agitating students that all results will be announced within January 25, 2023

Following the assurance of registration evaluation, the protesters called off their strike. ABVP district organizing secretary Sachin Kulageri, taluk convener Adarsh Uppara, and district convener Shreyas Shetty were present.
