Dereliction of duty: Six police personnel including woman PSI suspended, says Compol

Mangaluru: Six police officers of the city, including a woman police sub-inspector (PSI), has been suspended for dereliction of duty in two separate cases, informed City police commissioner N Shashi Kumar

Shashi Kumar said that Rosamma, PSI of Pandeshwar women police station was suspended for showing negligence in the inquiry of POCSO related case of a minor girl who was sexually harassed. The police head constable was the accused in this case. Later, he was arrested.

In another incident, two assistant sub-inspectors, two head constables and one constable were suspended for consuming liquor in the station itself. Senior police officers conducted an investigation in this case. This occurred on August 26, 2021.

He further clarified that there was no relation between the video that has gone viral and the cases in which the police personnel are suspended

A video in which police are seen dancing in a women’s police station went viral on social media.

“The video was shot while the personnel were enjoying themselves on account of Dasara. We did not see anything wrong in that incident. So disciplinary action was not taken,” Shashi Kumar said.
