Koppal: Hanuman devotees thronged the historic and sacred Anjanadri Hill in Koppal district’s Gangavathi taluk on Friday, December 13. Devotees, wearing malas (sacred garlands), ascended the hill early in the morning for mala visarjana (garland removal) as a mark of devotion to Lord Anjaneya.
Known as the birthplace of Lord Hanuman, Anjanadri Hill holds immense religious and mythological significance. It attracts devotees, tourists, historians, and dignitaries from across the globe. Over the years, the number of devotees participating in this tradition has significantly increased.
The practice of wearing Hanuman malas began in 2008 with just 12 devotees and has grown to lakhs. Last year, over 1.25 lakh devotees ascended the hill for mala visarjana, marking a historic turnout.
This year too, thousands of devotees have traveled from various parts of Karnataka and other states via padayatra, mini buses, and other vehicles. To ensure smooth proceedings, the Koppal district administration, Gangavathi taluk officials, police, and other departments have provided necessary arrangements and facilities.
