Dharmasthala Temple elephant passes away

Belthangadi: A 60-year-old elephant, who had been serving at Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala for the last 50 years passed away on Friday morning.
The gentle-natured jumbo, Lata was often seen during the temple annual fair processions and during the Laksha Dweepotsava celebrations.
It is gathered that Lata died due to illness. Her burial was held on Friday evening, following a post-mortem, in the presence of forest department officials.
Mangaluru ACF Shridhar, RFO Mohan Kumar, DRFO Hariprasad, Forest Department Medical Officer Dr. Yashaswi, were present.
