Dharwad: 29-year-old PhD student commits suicide

Dharwad: A Ph.D. student allegedly committed suicide by consuming cough syrup with alcohol-based sanitizer in Hoysala Nagar in Dharwad.

The deceased has been identified as Sudeep Satyanand (29), a native of Honnavar of Uttar Kannada district who was studying at Karnataka University in Dharwad.

As per sources, Sudeep had a telephonic conversation with his parents on Sunday night, the incident came to light when his uncle, who stays in Hubballi, reached his room in Hoysala Nagar after his parents were not able to establish contact with him as he was not picking up their call on Monday.

However, the reason for his suicide to yet to be known.

A case with this regard has been registered with local police.
