MS Dhoni during India vs South Africa was spotted with the Balidan badge, the regimental dagger of the Indian Para Special Forces on his wicket-keeping gloves. While the gesture – a tribute to the Indian Army was well appreciated by Indian fans, the International Cricket Council had asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to get the symbol removed from Dhoni’s gloves.

The angry netizens started #DhoniKeepTheGlove on social media and the matter became debatable. The annoyed netizens have put up a series of tweets on social media in support of Dhoni.

While speaking to IANS, Claire Furlong, ICC General Manager, Strategic Communications, said that the BCCI has been asked to get the symbol removed from Dhoni’s gloves. “We have requested the BCCI to get it removed,” she said.

According to the International Cricket Council, “The ICC equipment and clothing regulations do not permit the display of messages that relate to political, religious or racial activities or causes during an international match.” However, fans are demanding that ICC take back it’s “command” and allow Dhoni to use the gloves he wants to.
