Disha Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar on Tuesday, February 16 said that arrest of Disha Ravi is an attack to weaken the moral strength of India’s Youth and make dissent illegal.

Taking to Twitter Shivakumar wrote, “Arrest of Disha Ravi is an attack to weaken the moral strength of India’s Youth and make dissent illegal. Police action against her, using a concocted ‘Toolkit’ conspiracy violates legal norms. Why not approach a competent court before arresting a young woman?”

He further added, “Congress brought Freedom to India. Congress has always stood for and defended the Personal Liberty of Citizens. Congress is the only bulwark against India becoming an authoritarian state. Citizens must realise that only Congress can defend their Personal and Political Freedom.”

The Delhi Police had arrested 22-year-old climate activist Disha Ravi for allegedly sharing the toolkit related to the farmers’ protests against Centre’s agricultural laws on social media. Ravi was arrested by the cybercrime unit of Delhi Police from her home in North Bengaluru on Saturday.

The police have alleged that Ravi was the one who shared the toolkit document with Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg and that she is a key conspirator in the formulation and dissemination of the document that “indicates a copycat execution of a conspiracy behind the January 26 violence.”
