District admin honours brave girl for saving her mother pinned under autorickshaw

Mangaluru: The 7th grader who single-handedly lifted the auto-rickshaw to save her mother was felicitated by the Dakshina Kannada district administration on Tuesday.
In a heartwarming act of bravery, a 7th-grade student, Vaibhavi, saved her mother after she was hit by an auto-rickshaw while crossing the road in Kinnigoli. Vaibhavi immediately rushed to her mother’s aid; lifted the autorickshaw and pulled her to safety, preventing a more serious accident.
Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan honoured Vaibhavi for her quick thinking and courage by presenting her with a traditional shawl and a garland during a ceremony at his office on Tuesday.
The incident has been praised widely, including by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on social media. The injured woman is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Surathkal.
