Mangaluru: District administration has ordered the city corporation to undertake a full level inquiry into the Pachanady garbage dump fire
Earlier too the district administration received several complaints regarding spontaneous fires and foul smell from the dump yard. But it is said that this was the first time fire broke out in the waste processing unit.
The fire mishap occurred at around 9 pm due to a suspected short circuit on Sunday, April 4, and was brought under control at 1.30 am on Monday.
Equipment at the recycling unit was damaged due to the fire, however, it did not spread to the landfill or garbage dump nearby.
