DK and Udupi-Chikkamagaluru LS seats: 29 candidates file nominations

Mangaluru/Udupi: With Tuesday being the last day for filing of nominations, altogether 15 candidates have submitted 24 nominations for the Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha (LS) constituency.

The scrutiny of 24 nominations filed by the candidates will take place on Wednesday March 25. The last date for withdrawal of the nominations is on March 29.

Two sets of nomination papers were filed by BJP candidate from the constituency Nalin Kumar Kateel on Monday and he filed two more sets on Tuesday, thereby filing a total of 4 nomination papers.

Candidates

The candidates who have filed their nomination papers include Nalin Kumar Kateel (BJP – four sets), Sudarshan M (BJP – two sets), Mithun Rai (Congress – four sets), Ilyas Mohammed Thumbay, Ismail Shaffi K (SDPI), Satish Salian (BSP), Supreeeth Kumar Poojary (LJD, Hindustan Janata Party), Vijaya Srinivas C (Uttama Prajakiya Party),  and independent candidates Muhammed Khalid, Dominic Alexander D’Souza, Venkatesh Bende, Abdul Hameed, Suresh Poojary H, Dr Deepak Rajesh Coelho and Maxim Pinto.

14 candidates file 26 nominations

A total of 14 candidates have filed 26 nomination papers for the Udupi – Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency.

Candidates

The candidates who have submitted their nomination papers include Shobha Karandlaje (BJP), Pramod Madhwaraj (JD(S), M K Dayanand (Proutist Sarva Samaja), Suresh Kunder (Uttama Prajakiya Party), Vijayakumar (CPI (ML – red star), Shekhar Havanje (RPI), P Parameshwar (BSP), Gautham Prabhu (Shiv Sena) and independent candidates Amrith Shenoy P, Sudheer Kanchan, K C Prakash, Abdul Rehman, Ganapathi Shettigar and M K Ganesh. Three among those who filed nominations belong to scheduled castes/tribes.
