Mangaluru: As Dakshina Kannada continues to be battered by heavy rains, district Deputy Commissioner Dr Rajendra KV on Friday visited Someshwara, Uchila, Bettampady, Peribail and other areas and reviewed the situation there.
As sea-erosion is rampant in these areas, the newly appointed DC visited and interacted with the local residents and gram panchayat officials here.
After being apprised of the situation, the DC said that he will bring this to notice of senior officials. “I will discuss the matter with higher authorities and take the necessary actions to prevent sea-erosion.”
Several houses had been damaged due to sea erosion over the last few years in these areas and the families residing here have been demanding that retaining wall be constructed to safeguard their property.
