DK district sees fall in daily COVID-19 cases but death toll rising

Mangaluru: On Saturday, the Dakshina Kannada reported 567 recoveries, 375 new cases of COVID-19 and 14 deaths due to the virus.
From the past two days, the district has been reporting a decline in the number of new cases, however, the death toll is still rising.
Of the 14 who died on Saturday, 9 were from the district while 5 were from other districts.
A total of 1,121 people have died in the district to date. The total number of positive cases are recorded till Saturday is 91,411.
Six new containment zones were also declared on Saturday. 2 containment zones each were declared in Mangaluru, Puttur Sullia and Belthangady taluks.
There are currently 6,208 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment. The district currently has a positivity rate of 4.6 per cent.
The vaccination campaign for college students over the age of 18 will start from Monday in the district.
