Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada district administration has prepared an integrated software called ‘Maralu Parivikshaka’ to bring more transparency and efficiency in sand mining and supply.

All existing software, including ‘Sand Bazaar,’ will be merged with this software.

The software was the conception of Deputy Commissioner Dr Rajendra KV. It was made by State government-owned Keonics and is the first such software in the State.

All the information, from the mining of the sand to the site where it will be supplied will be fed and available in the software. A new app is also being prepared for this purpose and officials can view each of these steps on their mobile phones through the app.

Already GPS systems have been installed in boats used in sand mining and sand transporting vehicles. Powerful cameras with 360 degrees rotating and night vision features have been also installed at sand mining sites.

Additionally, various police check posts have CCTV cameras to check the movement of the sand transporting vehicles.

The software and the related app will incorporate all these systems.

“The ‘Maralu Parivikshaka’ integrated software has been prepared and commissioned to bring together various existing software and monitoring systems in the sand mining and supply system under one platform. Based on the new system a case of violation of rules has already been registered,” Dr Rajendra KV said.
