Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Tuesday visited Kukke Sri Subramanya Temple to offer prayers and seek blessings from the deity.
Speaking to reporters during his visit here he said that he has been informed about the Naxal movement in the region. “I have spoken to the district collector and senior officials in this matter,” he said.
On the hesitance of a few licensed gun owners to deposit their weapons as per the protocol at the time of elections, Shivakumar said, “The practice has been in place for a long time as per the instructions of the Election Commission. This step is being taken so that nothing untoward happens. I will talk to the officials about how protection can be given to the people.”
Shivakumar further said that he would be visiting Dharmasthala, Kollur, Sringeri, Gokarna temples, among others, to seek god’s blessings. “We have complete faith in God,” he said adding that God did not abandon us (Congress) during the previous state assembly elections.
