Mangaluru, Udupi: About 277 cases related to land ownership has been dropped from further proceedings in the district after State government reformed land tenure laws in the State.
The government had earlier removed Sections 79A, B and C from the Karnataka Land Reforms Act, 1961 making it easier for the ownership of agricultural land.
All cases from before November 28, 2012, under Sections 79A and B which were still in the names of the land sellers, will now be transferred to the names of the buyers in the cadastre.
The government has also issued an order in this regard and stated that all cases that have been settled by the Sub Divisional Officers and Tehsildar under the Sections will not be affected.
