DK, Udupi COVID-19 update: 149 new cases in DK, 84 in Udupi on July 21

Mangaluru/Udupi: 149 COVID-19 new cases were reported in the Dakshina Kannada district on July 21. In neighbouring Udupi district, the number stands at 84.

In Dakshina Kannada district, the total active cases undergoing treatment is 2,070 and the cumulative total is 3,829.

127 patients were discharged from hospitals in the district on the same day after recovering from the virus. Meanwhile, 5 more persons succumbed to the virus in the district increasing the total deaths to 73 till date.

The district-wide lockdown will end on July 23.

Additionally, the administration has also informed that in all identified COVID-19 clusters in the district, Taluk Health Officer along with ASHA workers will be conducting “Intensive Vulnerable People Identification Survey” from July 23 onwards.

In Udupi district, 84 people were diagnosed with the virus, increasing the active count to 664 and the cumulative total to 2,405.

114 were discharged after recovering from the virus and no deaths were reported on the same day.

One of the positive cases is the chief seer of Puttige Mutt.
