Udupi: Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje on Friday slammed Congress leader D K Shivakumar for saying that anti CAA activist Amulya, who raised ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogan should have been given a chance to talk.
The remark coming from the leader of a party which claims to have fought for the nation’s Independence is shocking, said Karandlaje adding that a real Congressman would never make such a remark. She further demanded that D K Shivakumar be investigated for his remark.
On February 20, Amulya Leonna had raised pro-Pak slogans during an event to oppose the CAA, NRC and NPR at Bengaluru’s Freedom Park. Reacting to this, the BJP MP said that people showing disrespect to their nation by raising pro-Pakistan slogans must be punished. The event organisers, as well as Amulya’s parents, should be interrogated, she said.
Further Karandlaje alleged that Amulya’s father had links with Naxals and the police are aware of the same.
Lawyers should not take up the case of such anti-national persons, she said.
