Chitradurga: BJP vice president B.Y. Vijayendra on Thursday said that despite D.K. Shivakumar being the president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), was a personal friend.
DK Shivakumar and Vijayendra shared the same dais at the Yuva Mela event organized at the Muruga Math in the city. The political leaders of opposing factions engaged in a brief conversation.
After the event Vijayendra told reporters, “Shivakumar may be the KPCC president but he is also my friend. We have spoken cordially on personal matters, not political ones.”
He also denied the rumours and allegations about the secret meeting between Congress leader Siddaramiah, and his father and former chief minister Yeddyurappa. He said that former CM H.D. Kumaraswamy’s claims were politically motivated and had had no substance to them.
He also denied any relation between the recent Income Tax Department raids on contractors and Yeddyurappa.
“Since becoming the CM, Basavaraja Bommai has been reviewing development work in the state. This has helped BJP to win local body elections. Congress is losing its presence in the country. Its remnants are visible only in a few pockets. No matter how loudly the Congress shouts, BJP shall win the by-elections,” he said.
