Vijayapura: The process of appointing 320 specialist doctors to fill up vacant posts in government hospitals of the State has reached its final stage, informed Health Minister Shivananda Patil on Saturday, August 11th.
Speaking with presspersons at the office of KBJNL (Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam Limited) at Almatti dam here he said that the government was also in the process of appointing other medical staff such as nurses.
The minister admitted that he was receiving several complaints of dialysis units not functioning owing to frequent power cuts, and causing severe inconvenience to patients and said that the government has decided to provide generators to all government hospitals in order to resolve the issue.
Mr. Patil spoke on the establishment of a government medical college in Vijayapura city and said that he has been putting pressure on the government to grant one college to the district but Water Resources Minister D.K. Shivakumar “took away” one college for his constituency. “I hope that in the coming budget, I will get one college for our district too”, he said.
The work for a 100-bed Mother and Child Hospital is under way on the district government hospital premises and would be inaugurated soon informed the minister.
The Minister said that he was committed to the idea of establishing the office of Managing Director of KBJNL in Vijayapura itself. Mr. Patil said that he has written a letter to Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy requesting him not to shift the office of KSHIP (Karnataka State Highways Improvement Project) to Hassan from north Karnataka.
Mr. Patil said the candidate decision for the Vijayapura-Bagalkot by-election of MLC for local bodies constituency was left to the Congress High Command.
