In a tale that tugs at the heartstrings, a faithful furry friend keeps a vigil in front of the mortuary at Kannur District Hospital. For four months, the dog has awaited its owner, oblivious to the sad truth that its master has passed away.

It was an observant hospital attendant who first spotted the steadfast dog. Initially overlooked, the canine caught people’s attention as it continued to linger near the mortuary for days.

According to ANI report, Vikas Kumar, an staff member at the hospital, said, “A patient came to the hospital four months ago and the dog had come along with the patient. The patient died and the dog saw the owner being taken to the mortuary… The dog feels that the owner is still here. The dog does not leave this place and has been here for the past four months.”

The dog waits by the ramp, where the bodies taken into the morgue. While the dog occasionally ventures to the physiotherapy department, it unfailingly returns to the mortuary by nightfall… still waiting for its human friend.

Kumar notes that the faithful canine has become a cherished resident of the hospital, its behavior impeccable.

In a world filled with fleeting moments, this dog’s steadfast vigil is a touching testament to the enduring bond between humans and their loyal pets.
