DPR for Udupi city UGD works is ready: MLA Raghupati Bhat

Manipal: Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the estimated Rs 330 crore Underground Drainage (UGD works for Udupi city has been prepared. A traffic circle is planned at the Kalsanka junction for alleviating the traffic woes. These will be completed as part of the Smart City project, said Udupi MLA Raghupati Bhat.

He shared this information in the first talk of the series ‘Shasakara Jote Mathukate’ (conversation with lawmakers) held at the Udayavani’s Manipal headquarters on Saturday.

During the talk show, the MLA gave detailed information about the pressing issues faced by the people of the district. The talks touched upon the expansion of Malpe Port, the issue of special tender for city street lighting problems, the development of Mother and Children Government Hospital under a partnership with KMC Hospital, steps for purification of Indrani River, raising water pumping capacity at Baja Dam, the bridge-cum-barrage construction for stopping salt water ingress into the Swarna River, and recharging lake water for irrigation purposes, among others.

Raghupati Bhat said the drinking water problems of Udupi city will be solved after the completion of the Varahi project, which is expected to be completed in January next year.

Udupi’s representative in Karnataka Assembly also discussed the issue of upgrading the facilities at the District Government Hospital, the issue of deemed forests, the timely announcement of support price for paddy procurement, and simplifying CRZ rules.

On this occasion, the MD and CEO of Manipal Media Network Ltd Mr. Vinod Kumar greeted the MLA with a memento.
