Dr. P. L. Dharma appointed the 10th Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University

Mangaluru: Dr. P. L. Dharma, Head of the Department of Political Science at Mangalore University, has been appointed as the 10th Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University.

The announcement came on March 5. The official notification issued by Thaawarchand Gehlot, Governor of Karnataka and Chancellor of Universities, outlined the appointment of Dr. Dharma for a period of four years. This appointment is effective from the date of his assumption of office or until he reaches the age of 67, whichever occurs earlier.

Prior to assuming the role of Vice Chancellor, Dr. Dharma served as the Registrar (Evaluation) at Mangalore University.

The tenure of his predecessor, Dr. P. Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya, had concluded on June 2, 2023. Thereafter the position had been vacant. Prof. Jayaraj Amin, Seniormost Dean, Faculty of Arts, Department of Political Science, Mangalore University was appointed as the Acting Vice Chancellor.
