Drink and drive: Police jeep climbs divider at Hampankatta

Mangaluru: The driver of a police jeep crashed the duty jeep he was driving allegedly under the influence divider near the railway station at Hampankatta here on Tuesday night March 26.
According to sources the yet to be identified driver was allegedly driving the police jeep under a heavy influence of alcohol and is said to be part of the reserved police team.
The haphazard driven car stopped after climbing the divider. Soon after the incident the driver was taken to task by the people who were in the area.
The police who arrived to the spot objected to the locals taking pictures and videos of the incident, yet videos and pictures on the taken by the locals depicted the driver to be too drunk to even walk properly.
The police have not yet confirmed on the driver being drunk. The accident occurred after the driver veered the jeep to avoid hitting an oncoming auto rickshaw, say the police.
