‘Drugs-free Mangaluru’: Two arrested for alleged MDMA trafficking in CCB Police operation

Mangaluru: CCB Police continued their ambitious “Drugs Free Mangaluru” operation by apprehending individuals involved in the alleged sale of Methylene dioxy methamphetamine (MDMA) to the public and students across the city.

Two individuals have been arrested and are currently in custody for reportedly possessing and selling MDMA, a controlled substance, in the Kadri Park area of Mangaluru, police said on Friday.

The accused were identified as Nawaz (40), a resident of Manjeshwar Taluk, Kasaragod District, Kerala, and Azaruddin alias Azar (38), a resident of Farangipete, Bantwal Taluk.

They were found in possession of a total of 120 grams of MDMA valued at Rs 6,00,000, along with three mobile phones, digital weighing scales, and a Suzuki Access scooter. The total estimated value of the seized items is around Rs 6,83,120, police added.

A case has been registered at the CEN Crime Police Station in this regard, police said and added that this drug trafficking case may involve several other individuals and is currently under investigation.

Notably, Nawaz had previously been involved in a drug-related case registered at the Konaaje Police Station, and another case related to drug peddling at the Bantwal Rural Police Station. Azar also had a history of involvement in cases related to narcotics and theft documented in multiple police stations including Mangaluru South Police Station, the police added.
