Malpe: A tourist at Malpe beach went missing creating a scare that he might have drowned. After a 6-hour operation, the man was found sleeping soundly on a rock near Sea Walkway on Sunday.
The man identified as Manjunath (23) from Hosakere Village in Bengaluru along with 6 of his friends had come to Malpe beach on a trip. They had stayed at a resort near the beach.
On Sunday afternoon, the friends ventured out for a swim. As Manjunath was inebriated, his companions asked him to return to back.
However, when the friends came out of the water after some time, Manjunath was nowhere to be seen.
The panicked friends called the police and told them about the missing man. Suspecting that Manjunath may have washed away at sea, police called in diving expert Ishwar Malpe. The search continued on the seashore for about 6 hours.
Everyone sighed with relief when Manjunath was found on a rock bench on the Sea Walk. Apparently, in his drunken state, Manjunath had decided to take a nap on the bench, where he had dozed off.
