Bengaluru: A man succumbed to his self-inflicted wounds after he cut off his genitals at his residence in Soladevanahalli on Saturday morning. Apparently he was drunk.

The deceased person is identified as Nanjappa (57), a labourer and resident of Tirumalapura, Soladevanahalli in north Bengaluru. He was an alcoholic, informs his son.

The man had consumed a good amount of alcohol after waking up in on Saturday morning. When his son returned from work at 10:30 pm in the night, the neighbour’s informed him that they had heard his father screaming inside the house.

The son entered the house and found that his father had chopped off his genitals and was bleeding profusely. Even as the son was making arrangements to shift his father to the hospital, Nanjappa had died within the next 10 minutes. The son informs that the act was accomplished by using a kitchen knife and that he has no clue why his father committed the act.

Soladevanahalli police say that this is the first time they have come across such an incident and hence no complaint has been filed.
