Bengaluru: Duniya Vijay’s first wife Nagarathna is on the run after police arrived at her place on Sunday to arrest her on the charges of assaulting his second wife Keerthi Gowda.
Apparently, Nagarathna’s daughter Monica refused to cooperate with the police and open the door which led to Nagarathna’s escape. Police have confirmed that Nagarathna is on the run and that search parties would be sent to capture her.
The incident
Earlier, the police had issued a warrant against Nagarathna for attacking Keerthi at Vijay’s house on September 24th. The evidence of the attack was found on the CCTV footage showing her attacking Keerthi with a slipper, just around the time when Duniya Vijay and three of his associates were getting arrested for assaulting a gym instructor.
The reason
Reportedly, the fight between Nagarathna and Keerthi was regarding the custody of Vijay’s daughter Monica and Vijay had appealed to Nagarathna to surrender the custody of their daughter.
The actor had also said that he and Keerthi had requested the police to not to interfere in the matter as it would only have an adverse effect to Monica’s future. However, Nagarathna had no such concern and approached police officials in Girinagar and accused Keerthi of assaulting her.
The police had taken up a suo moto case against Vijay and his family under the orders of DCP of Bengaluru South, Annamalai K and registered a case under Section 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons) against Nagarathna.
