Kundapur: The district and sessions court of Kundapur has granted bail to two persons accused of killing and later burning the corpse of their elder brother.

The accused – Durga Naik (31) and Raghavendra Naik (28) had been arrested on April 28 this year on charges of murdering their brother Muttayya Naik (35). Reportedly, Muttayya was an alcoholic and used to frequently quarrel with the family members. On April 26, the accused allegedly strangulated him to death by tying a rope around his neck and later, in order to destroy the evidence, they burnt his body and the rope. They then claimed that their brother had gone missing.

The police investigating the case had found pieces of bones, from where his body had been burnt and an FSL report confirmed that it belonged to Muttaya.

The accused were represented by advocate Ravikiran Murdeshwar.
